Well after 1 full year since this idea first came to me, I have finally sat down to start editing and bring this story together. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see this project come to life.

Utah Nevada Road Trip & The Last Day of Filming

We just finished all our filming for the movie this week, with Michael and I filming a road trip across Utah and Nevada, and then Ashley flying in to film with us in Tuolumne Meadows for the close of the film. We couldn´t have had a more magical closure as Mother Nature provided the most magical backdrop that we could have ever imagined. An ominous snow storm was coming in from the west which lit up the sky and had an incredible energy in the air.

These photos below are with Michael and Ashley filmed at Mono Lake and in Tuolumne as a snow storm descended upon us, giving us an incredibly magical feel beyond what we could have ever imagined for the footage…. ~ Shawn

Check out the pictures below from Mike and I´s road trip! Utah was simply stunning with majestic vistas and vast canyons to towering red rock walls. Nevada had an immense feel which really captured the feel of the “Open Road”.

Welcome to The Outside, and welcome to our new blogsite. I’m Shawn Reeder, and this project is something that I dreamed up and is near and dear to my heart. I wanted to make a modern day musical that shares what its like to have your life changed by Yosemite, true connection, and the power of nature. This story metaphorically tells the experience of so many of my friends, including myself.

I also wanted to show Yosemite in a completely different way. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. There have been no lack of films made about this amazing land. There are plenty of documentaries on the history, the big trees, the natives and the geology. You can see extreme rock climbing, and beautiful nature videos. Learn about John Muir, Tuolumne Meadows, El Capitan, and Half Dome.

But when have you seen a story of an everyday person who’s come to Yosemite, and knew that their life would never be the same. That’s what happened to us. Join us in this journey as we share a story of music, love, connection, and nature’s beauty that is sure to inspire.

Both myself and the two main characters Michael Schweitzer and Ashley Collins will be sharing our journeys of making this film through this blog. We’ll be writing about our experiences and insights, sharing photos, preview clips, and music videos, and hoping that you will join in this journey with us. We hope you will share your thoughts and feelings through comments, and please share this blogsite with all your friends.
